Meeting of the Directors of Museums on the Slave Trade

This meeting is planned as part of the commemorations of the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade by the United Kingdom to examine ways in which museums can share information and experiences on raising students- and public awareness regarding the history of the transatlantic slave trade and slavery.

This meeting follows the one held in Ghana in February 2007 between UNESCO’s Director-General and the UK Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott on the sharing of information relating to the history of the slave trade and slavery.

The seminar is organized by the Museums Archives and Library Council of the UK (MLA) in close partnership with UNESCO’s Slave Route Project.
